Big Springs Upper Meadow is a quick hike and gorgeous photography spot in the South Fork off Provo Canyon.

There are multiple meadows near Big Springs Park, including one that is an easy hike along the Big Springs Hollow loop. You can also extend that hike into a moderate loop with this trail. This trail begins at Big Springs Park, but heads in another direction to a higher meadow.

From Provo Canyon, turn at Vivian Park and continue along that road past South Fork Park to Big Springs Park.

Big Springs Park has several parking lots, so keep going until you get to the last one and see the trailhead sign (first picture). You will actually want to start on the opposite side of that parking lot for this one (second photo).

Look for a little paved section of trail to your left when you pass the into the last parking lot. You will head up the trail that heads left (northwest).

This trail doesn’t have much shade, but it’s only about a 12 minute walk to the meadow.

We saw several butterflies and a bumblebee along the way.

Here are a few of the view looking behind you or on the way back down.

This wide path continues up to and through the large meadow.

It is beautiful in every direction.

There was a partial wagon in the meadow and I’m not sure why.
