The Birdsong Trail is an aptly named quick and easy trail in Ogden that goes through multiple habitats. It begins on 12th street in the Rainbow Gardens parking lot and is only an easy mile stroll.

My kids love the large leaves!

It is mostly shaded, although there is a hill and overlook that are unshaded.

The best part of this section is looking for the lizards! I saw a few of these Whiptail Lizards with their brilliant tails!

You can look towards the base of a Ogden Canyon.

Take the little overlook detour. It’s super short and adds less than 0.1 mile. That section has cactus near the top!

The wildfire smoke makes the views not as clear, but they are nice views of Ogden.

The path then enters the trees again.

There is a very small waterfall from a spring and a bench.

The path continues through some trees with cool trunk and branch formations!

Then there is another little unshaded section and then the trail meets the road in a neighborhood. Take in the view!

For now there is smoke and drought, but here is an older clearer photo.

I highly recommend turning around and making the Birdsong Trail a there and back trail. This end of the trail is by Fillmore St. near 20th Street.

AllTrails shows it as a loop, but it is 0.7 mile through a neighborhood and then a mostly unshaded and rather unscenic longer trail back. It is much more enjoyable to return the way you came, but here are a few photos of what will await you if you make the loop.

If you have kids with you, definitely turn around (although pretty much everyone should). If you want to make it a little longer combine it with the Ogden Wrecked Car Hike also from the Rainbow Gardens Trailhead.

The Birdsong Trail has lots of birds singing throughout.  It isn’t challenging at all, but perfect for families with young children.

If you do decide to combine it with the Ogden Wrecked Car Hike , you can either do both there and back from Rainbow Gardens, or you could begin at Fillmore St and 20th Street and go all the way to the crashed car and back.
