An enormous flag hangs in Grove Creek Canyon in Pleasant Grove for around a week starting on the 4th of July!

This giant flag, “Lady Liberty” is over 1/4 acre in size! It’s 150 feet long and each star is 6 feet across! This huge flag weighs more than 400 lbs!

It was created by an organization called Follow the Flag. They also hang a giant flag in Coldwater Canyon in North Ogden in November! These flags are the largest over flown!

From the parking lot they have all of the state flags leading the way up to the giant American flag. The walk up to the flag is very short, maybe 400 feet.

We walked up above it so that we could look down the canyon and get the view of the city and Utah Lake behind it. We still only walked less than 1/3 mile round-trip.

These flags will only be hanging from the July 4 through the Monday morning a week after, so be sure to go soon. In 2022 it’s July 4-11. In 2021 July 4-12. In 2020 went at 8:30 am on a weekday. We saw others, but it wasn’t very crowded, but this year we accidently showed up during the race. We cheered on the last runners as we walked up to the flag. They shine a spotlight on it at night.

If you are hoping for more of an actual hike you can continue up Grove Creek Canyon to the falls or meadow.

Other nearby hikes are Battle Creek Falls, The “G” Hike, .

Another large flag, not quite as large is placed in Little Willow Canyon by Hidden Valley Park in Sandy, Utah July 4-24 and 3,300 flags in Sandy’s Healing Field for the week over September 11. There is also a large flag hung in Rock Canyon over September 11. Here is one more of the flag in Grove Creek Canyon.
