Goosenecks Overlook and Sunset Point are impressive viewpoints along a very short hike in Capitol Reef National Park. This is an easy trail that begins at the end of a short improved unpaved road. Any car should be able to do this in good weather. Just a very small trail up from the parking lot is the Goosenecks Overlook that looks down on the winding Sulphur Creek 800 feet below.

This is different from Goosenecks State Park that looks down on the San Juan River further southeast.

I was there both at an overcast sunset and a sunrise, so the lighting is quite different in the photos.

The Sunset Overlook trail is only about 1/3 mile from the parking lot and it mostly flat. It does allow for more beautiful views.
