The Kyhv Peak Overlook is an impressive, accessible viewpoint of Utah Valley and a great place for spring wildflowers and fall colors! As of September 2022, Squaw Peak was renamed Kyhv Peak.
The word Kyhv is “mountain” in the Ute language and is pronounced to rhyme with hive.
It is a beautiful place to watch the sunset and look over Utah County.
You can also turn around and see part of Cascade Mountain.
The Kyhv Overlook (Squaw Peak Overlook) is popular with families and college students, but every time I have been people have been respectful of each other. There are a few trails that lead up the mountain.
From this point it is under two miles to the top of Buffalo Peak, so four miles round trip. If you want to make it under a mile round trip, follow this short trail to Buffalo Peak.
You can also follow the trail parallel to the road down the mountain. Then you get a view of Mount Timpanogos.

Another scenic drive that can actually be combined with this one is the Alpine Loop.
