Maple Lake is a campground in the Payson Canyon side of the Nebo Loop that is great for fishing or kayaking.

Directions

This is only about 13 minutes from the entrance of Payson Canyon, 8 minutes from Grotto Falls and 20 from the Payson Lakes Campground. To reserve a camping spot use Recreation.gov. There is no water available at this campground.

Wildlife

Unfortunately several years ago someone released a pet goldfish into Maple Lake and despite draining the lake and doing other measures, the goldfish population thrives.

There are also rainbow trout and brook trout, so there is good fishing.

When we were there there was a Caspian Tern circling the water!
