Millcreek Canyon is popular because of its beauty, its proximity to Salt Lake City and because it is dog-friendly. It is also one of the few canyons that requires a fee ($5/vehicle).
Millcreek Canyon allows bikes on even numbered days. On even days dogs need to be leashed and on odd days they can be unleashed.
It’s a very scenic drive just to head up the Millcreek Canyon road. This is especially popular in the fall to see the colors. Here are photos of the scenic drive in different seasons.

Distance – 8.6 miles one way (the winter gate is up 4.2 miles)
Approximate driving time – 60 minutes (round trip and longer if including hikes or during peak times)
Permits needed – $5/vehicle (not part of National Parks or Utah State Parks passes)
