There is an old half-buried car wreck on part of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail in Ogden. It is a short, easy hike to see it.

Directions

Begin at the Rainbow Gardens Trailhead. This is also the same trailhead for Birdsong Trail. They are both short and could both be done in on hike as there and backs in one go.

Follow the signs for the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

This trail is short and is just over a mile round trip, but doesn’t have very much shade. There is some scrub oak and a few taller trees.

But several sections have no shade. This looking back towards the parking lot.

If you continue up the Bonneville Shoreline Trail beyond the old car there are some mountain biking trails, but those have no shade at all.

If you keep your eyes open you might seem some cool insects, whiptail lizards and a few wildflowers.

After a few more minutes the trail returns to scrub oak that offers more shade and seclusion.

About 0.6 miles into the hike, there is a T-intersection in the trail. The Bonneville Shoreline continues to the left, but there is a short detour you can take to the crashed car.

Head right and you will see this car.

Unless you are mountain biking I would recommend you turn around at this point. There are much more beautiful trails nearby if you want to hike a little longer. This trail can easily be combined with Birdsong Trail since they are at the same trailhead (or you could begin at Fillmore St and 20th Street and go all the way to the crashed car and back).
