Scout Cave is a cool cave in the red rock cliff in Snow Canyon State Park in St. George, Utah.

Directions

This trailhead is just inside Snow Canyon State Park. Johnson Canyon and Arch starts out on the same trail, but that one is only open September 15-March 14 to protect the tortoise habitat. Scout Cave is open year round.

You can see beautiful views looking further into Snow Canyon.

When you get to the junction, Johnson Trail is to the left and Scout Cave to the right.

The Scout Cave trail continues marked along the way.

There isn’t any shade so be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Go early in the day to avoid the heat. There are some lizards along the trail.

Near the end there is a big set of stairs. Here is the same set from the bottom and then the top.

Then the trail aproaches the canyon walls.

You can see pretty good views just before you get to the cave.

There is actually another cave next to Scout Cave.

The other cave isn’t really accessible, because there isn’t an easy way to climb up to the entrance.

You have to do a very minor little scramble to get to Scout Cave, but should be doable for most. It looks pretty cool inside.

Here are views further into the cave, the hole in the ceiling, and the cave walls.

Here is the view looking out from the cave.

We saw some cacti and wildflowers along the trail.

Here is one more of beautiful Scout Cave.
