Smith and Morehouse Reservoir is a very scenic lake in the Uinta Mountains.

Directions
It is located 14 miles east of Oakley, Utah. Take the road that passes the Oakley Diner for 11 1/2 miles and then turn right onto the improved dirt road for 2 1/2 miles. The road is nicely graded and any car will be able to drive on it well as long as it’s dry.

When you are about to turn onto the dirt road, be sure to notice the osprey nest.

We prefer to pass the dam and go to the next parking area where the pit toilet bathrooms are. There is a boat ramp there.

Smith and Morehouse Reservoir allows boat motors, but only at wakeless speeds, perfect for trolling. It is stocked with rainbow trout, brook trout, cutthroat, and Arctic grayling.

It is such a lovely place to spend time!

We usually see some cool birds, like the osprey, eagles, or sandpiper. My son also noticed this cute garter snake camouflaged near the shore.
