The “U” on the Mountain is the hillside letter for the University of Utah. There used to be a little hike, but now homes have been built up nearly to the Block U. Now it is more of a drive-by or viewpoint than a hike. We followed the signs about staying off the trail for restoration.

If you want to hike to a hillside letter, try the “Y”, the “G”, or hike to the Escalante Cross. Other nearby hikes are the Living Room Lookout, Miller Park and Bonneville Glen Loop, and Ensign Peak.
