Upper Falls is in Provo Canyon just farther east past Bridal Veil Falls. Most of the year you can park at Upper Falls Park, cross the bridge and then make the quick and steep ascent to Upper Falls. You can even continue on the to the higher tier of Upper Falls. In the winter, they close the gate, so you have a 1.4 mile round trip hike to Bridal Veil Falls and a three mile round trip to Upper Falls.
The path is paved, but is covered with snow this time of year. Microspikes are preferred for Bridal Veil and necessary for Upper Falls.
Along the way you will pass Lost Creek to the left and Bridal Veil Falls to the right.
When you get to the graffiti little building, turn right and head straight up the mountain. It is steep, but not too long.
Here is Upper Falls frozen!
On our way back down the sun was setting.
