Herriman, Utah’s Water Fork Ridge Trail in Yellow Fork Canyon can be hiked as a there and back or in combination for a longer loop with Rose Canyon or Yellow Fork Road.

Directions

This trail begins at the Yellow Creek Trailhead at the end of Rose Canyon Road. They’re two neighboring parking areas at the end with restrooms and four trails. The left most trail is Rose Canyon, the next is Water Fork Ridge Trail, and the right most is actually two parallel, Yellow Canyon Fork Trail and Yellow Fork Canyon Road. The large sign above is between these two pictures.

Take the bridge and then head along this trail for Water Fork Canyon.

This trail is steeper than Rose Canyon, so pretty soon you get higher. This photo was taken on the last day of July, so earlier in the season, it would probably be greener.

This trail is more of a workout and less shady than Rose Canyon Spring Trail. We hiked this as a loop going up Rose Canyon and back down Water Fork, so the pictures are headed down. If you plan to do both, I would recommend coming up this and then back down the more shady and gradually sloped Rose Canyon.

The views of the southwest corner of the Salt Lake Valley are beautiful!

You could turn around at any time, but the higher views are nice. You could also connect with Rose Canyon or Yellow Fork Canyon.
